Frequently Asked Questions:
Do we have to book ahead?
Most definitely. Bookings are essential, to make sure we are open on your chosen day and we can reserve a kayak for you. During peak periods such as school holidays and long weekends, we recommend calling the day before so you don’t miss out.
What will we see?
You can expect to see a wide range of bird species; pelicans and cormorants are a common sight. Look out for stingrays and fish in the seagrass beds, along with the ever present molluscs and crabs of the mangrove forests.
What ages do you cater for?
All ages! Children under 10 yrs must partner with an adult in a double kayak. Toddlers can share a seat with a parent free of charge. We have life-vests to fit everybody.
Is this a guided tour?
This is not a guided tour. The river is safe and easy to navigate so no need to pay extra for a guide. The equipment hire period is 2 hours including a brief introductory lesson, which represents great value for money.
Where do we meet?
We are based at the Tomakin Boat Ramp, at the end of Kingston Place in the coastal village of Tomakin. This popular boating venue has plenty of parking and an amenities block with picnic tables nearby. Look out for the Total Eco Adventures trailer.
Where can we kayak?
For safety reasons we do not allow our kayaks outside of the Tomaga river estuary. The designated hire area is between Mossy Point to the east and Jeremadra to the west.
