Autumn 2012

Welcome to Autumn, well mid-Autumn...

We have now said goodbye to summer for another year and how lucky we were. Whilst so much of the east coast was wet all summer our little neck of the woods, whilst not hot, seemed for the most part to stay dry and under sunny skies. Perfect for getting outdoors and having some adventurous fun.

Autumn too has been shaping up very nicely after some early rain with cool crisp mornings and warm, clear, windless days. Combined with the continuing warm water the weather has been allowing lots of fun on the water and should continue to do so into early winter.

What Has Been Happening

Kayaking tours have continued to engage people with many of our sea kayak tours having some great encounters with pods of dolphins, both near Burrewurra Point and in at Batemans Bay.

One recent snorkelling tour was treated to a White-bellied Sea-eagle swooping and plucking fish from the water just metres from our group, very privileged.

The inaugural Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim went off without a hitch. Despite reservations in the wild weather leading up to the event the day dawned to perfect conditions, albeit with some pretty brown water. With 179 swimmers completing the course under perfect sunny skys and a nice rolling 2 metre swell, the event was deemed a huge success. All competitors had a great time and the event is set to become an annual ‘must-do' on the Broulee calendar.

The spate of bad weather at the beginning of August unfortunately lead to the cancelation of our last community spotlighting walk, another will be undertaken in the near future, watch our Facebook site for more information.

What's Coming Up

Our schools outdoor and environmental education programs have been in full tilt through Term 1 and will continue into Term 2 after the Easter break. We have had schools coming from throughout NSW and ACT and as always have had a great time introducing students to the ocean.

Easter is upon us now with many seeing it as the last chance to get down and enjoy the ocean before winter descends. Drop in and see us and let us get you out on the water, or in the water, with some kayaking, snorkelling or stand up paddle.

Don't forget to join us on Facebook to keep up to date with current environmental issues and events in our local area.

Have a great Autumn/Winter period and enjoy the adventure..
